Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn is an American film television and theatre actress. She has been a professional actor for 27 years. The first time she appeared on the stage as a character in the production The Big Funk (John Patrick Shanley) in off-Broadway. In The Perfect Tribute, she made her TV debut the following year. Her biggest break for her career was in 1992 when she acted as a support character in Basic Instinct. It was in The Firm however that she was cast as the leading female character for the very first time, and this was also against actors like Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. Through the 1990s her career included working with top Hollywood stars such as Gwyneth on Sliding doors, Hugh Grant Mickey Blue Eyes, and Julie Andrews Relative Values. She recently played Dr. Alex Blake in the internationally well-known crime procedural Criminal Minds.
