Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY; born 17 March the 17th of March, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is an Canadian musician and singer/songwriter recording producer, and singer. There are many styles of her first music is described as "lo hi R&B" and "futuristic dance-pop". Her music has incorporated elements from hip hop electronic, rock and hip hop. She often uses science fiction and feminist themes throughout the lyrics. She has recorded five albums. Grimes was born in Vancouver but later relocated to Montreal. Her first independent career in the latter part of the early 2000s. In 2010, she dropped two albums through Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. Following her the signing of 4AD her popularity grew with popularity through Visions the third studio album. Visions includes the singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion", and was awarded by the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. The album that she released as her fourth studio effort Art Angels was released in 2015. It received high praise from critics and many journals voted it as the best album of the year. [6] Her fifth album Miss Anthropocene, was made available in the year 2000. Grimes, who is also an actor and judge on Alter Ego's music contests, was the vocalist as part of Cyberpunk 2077 which was released 20th of January, 2020.
